Historic Buildings as Hotels
The pousada concept — historic buildings repurposed as hotels — places travellers inside structures that are themselves part of Portugal's architectural history, some dating to the medieval period and others to the monastic building boom of the sixteenth century. Several pousadas sit in or near towns with documented Jewish quarters, allowing accommodation and history to overlap directly.
