Lisbon typically stays in the mid-teens Celsius, mild enough for comfortable daytime walking. The Alentejo is cool and often rainy. Belmonte and Trancoso in the Serra da Estrela can be cold, with occasional snow at elevation, giving the mountain villages a striking winter character. The Douro valley is cold and often grey in December.
